Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data Marigo collects through marigo.agency, why, and what you can do about it. I've kept it short and in plain English. If anything's unclear, email me.

Who I am
Marigo is a strategy, paid media and creators agency run by Gavin McKenna, a sole trader based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. For the purposes of UK data protection law, I’m the controller of the personal data described here.
Contact: hello@marigo.agency
ICO registration number: [add once registered]
What I collect and why
When you use the contact form
I collect your name, email address, company (if you give it) and whatever you write in your message.
I use it to reply to you and, if we end up working together, to set that work up. The lawful basis is legitimate interests: you’ve asked me something and I want to answer it. If you become a client, the basis becomes contract.
When you book a call
Bookings run through Calendly. Calendly collects your name, email, the time you choose and any answers you give on the booking form, and shares them with me so the call happens. Calendly’s own privacy policy covers how it handles that data: calendly.com/privacy.
The lawful basis is legitimate interests (you’ve asked for a call) or steps before entering a contract.
When you ask for Thinking emails
If you tick “Send me new Thinking pieces when they land” on the free proposal form, I’ll use your name and email address to send you new Thinking pieces when they’re published. That’s all I’ll use them for.
The lawful basis is consent. Every email has an unsubscribe link, or you can just email me, and I’ll take you off the list straight away.
When you browse the site
With your consent, I use analytics and advertising cookies to see how people find and use the site, and to show Marigo ads to people who’ve visited. The details, and how to switch them off, are in the cookie policy.
The lawful basis is consent. You can withdraw it at any time from the cookie settings link in the site footer.
Technical data
Like every website, the servers that host marigo.agency log basic technical data (IP address, browser type, the pages requested, time of request) to keep the site running and secure. The lawful basis is legitimate interests.
Who I share it with
I don’t sell your data. I share it only with the services that run the site and the business:
| Service | What it does | Where data may go |
|---|---|---|
| Vercel | Hosts the website | USA |
| Google Workspace | Email (hello@marigo.agency) and file storage | USA / EU |
| Google Analytics | Site analytics (only with consent) | USA |
| Meta (Facebook, Instagram) | Ad measurement and audiences via the Meta Pixel (only with consent) | USA / Ireland |
| Ad measurement and audiences via the Insight Tag (only with consent) | USA / Ireland | |
| Calendly | Call bookings | USA |
| Formspree | Delivers contact form messages to my inbox | USA |
Some of these providers store data outside the UK. Where they do, the transfer is covered by the UK’s adequacy regulations (including the UK-US Data Bridge for certified US companies) or by the provider’s standard contractual clauses with the UK addendum.
I’ll also share data if the law requires it.
How long I keep it
- Contact form and booking enquiries that don’t go anywhere: 12 months, then deleted.
- Client records: 6 years after our work ends, because HMRC requires me to keep business records that long.
- Thinking emails: until you unsubscribe.
- Analytics and advertising data: the retention periods are set out in the cookie policy. Google Analytics data is set to delete after 14 months.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask me to:
- give you a copy of the personal data I hold about you
- correct anything that’s wrong
- delete your data
- restrict or object to how I use it
- move your data to another provider, where that applies
- stop using it for marketing, at any time
Where I rely on consent, you can withdraw it whenever you like. It won’t affect anything I did before you withdrew it.
Email hello@marigo.agency to use any of these rights. I’ll reply within one month. There’s no charge.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your data, please tell me first and I’ll try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or 0303 123 1113.
Changes
If I change this policy, I’ll update the date at the top. Big changes will get a note on the site.
